Future Fires Projection Mapping in Napa Valley

One of our favorite events from the 2019 summer was the performance at Hess Winery put on by Festival Napa Valley on July 11. Future Fires artist David Ostro created projection mapping on a pair of 12-foot diameter screens. Much of the imagery was provided by a special guest for this 50th anniversary of our first walk on the moon: Donald Pettit, NASA Astronaut.

NEW WORK FROM THE FUTURE FIRES FAMILY OF ARTISTS: Encor at Fête des Lumières

Add some more info about this item...

Encor is a studio founded in 2015 by swiss artists Mirko Eremita, David Houncheringer, Valerio Spoletini, and Manuel Oberholzer. Light is the common thread in their many and diverse projects. The driving ideas are elegant and elemental.

At the Fête des Lumières in 2018, the artists installed Frontier (see linked video). Frontier is the engineered play of light on a pool of water, unfolding via increasingly ingenious strategies.

THREE DIMENSIONS ARE BETTER THAN TWO

Joanie Lemercier, inspiration to a generation of light artists, has long been fascinated with the potential for creating moving, three-dimensional images. His latest work, with projections on water vapor and mist, has moved even closer to that place that science-fiction author Arthur C. Clarke famously indicated, wherein technology begins to look a lot like magic.

THE GIVING TREE // SPRING, 2018 // GRAND CENTRAL STATION, NYC

Future Fires is delighted to be working with Yves Peitzner Labs (Munich) on prototyping, rendering, and other services critical to getting our client projects from the "idea" stage to reality. This past Spring, YPL design-directed the “Giving Tree” interactive installation for HUSH STUDIOS and their client Chobani. Each visitor could plant a digital “seed” and watch it grow in the overhead tree canopy. For each seed planted, Chobani donated a case of yoghurt to No Kid Hungry. This installation was created for the 10 year anniversary of Chobani Yoghurt, USA, and over 21.000 interactions were counted on the day of the installation. See link for remarkable photos of a remarkable installation.

ILLUSTRATIONS FOR AN URBAN CANVAS // 18 - 23 MARCH, 2018 // FRANKFURT, GERMANY

A Future Fires partner, URBANSCREEN is an artist studio whose specialty is projection and projection mapping. Among other accomplishments on a large scale, they are known for iconic visuals provided for the opening of the Sydney Opera house. For this site-specific illumination of ECB’s Grossmarkthalle at Luminale 2018 (Frankfurt), the team included renowned Berlin-based illustration artist Andreas Preis. The interdisciplinary working process brought together hand-drawn illustrations, 2D- and 3D-computer animations, and a sound design by Janis E. Müller. These bold illustrations turned the Grossmarkthalle into a colorful urban canvas. Commissioned by the European Central Bank.

NOHLAB & NOS VISUALS with UDI BONEN @ ISRAEL FESTIVAL / 06.07.2018

Nohlab and NOS Visuals joined with pianist Udi Bonen for the 57th Israel Festival at Jerusalem: three performances in one night on the 6th of July.

Dazzling, kinetic - or still and calm - NOS makes the sound of a performance visible, triggering an ever-changing, prismatic visual field. The NOS engine enables real-time audio analysis, allowing the video and audio to be perceived as a whole. Whatever is played is seen.
